Andres Ruzo is a geologist who grew up in Lima, in Peru. Once, when he was still young, his grandfather told one incredible legend. According to him, when the Spaniards came to conquer Peru, gold-hungry warriors killed the ruler of the Inca empire Atahualpa and began to question the vanquished people, where there is still a rich civilization that they can capture. In retaliation, the Incas sent the Spaniards to the Amazon Valley, saying that there was supposedly the city of Paititi, which is all built of gold. The deceived conquerors went in search of the dangerous jungle, but only a few of them were able to return. Surviving Spaniards told amazing stories about warriors with poisonous arrows, powerful shamans, spiders who ate birds, and snakes that completely swallowed people, but they also brought a story about a river whose waters boil and boil as if fire was burning underneath.

When Andres matured, he went to study as a geologist, and the dream to find a mythical city that might turn out to be real did not leave him. After graduation, he decides to go to the jungle of the Amazon and try to find a boiling river. And, to his great surprise, he succeeded!

It turned out that the river is not fictitious at all. That's just the temperature of her water did not reach the boiling point, it was 86 ° C.

The geologist immediately began to explore his discovery. He found out that the source of the river is cold, then in a certain place the water heats up, then it cools down, then it heats up again and cools down again and so on until it reaches a bend. There, its waters are gradually cooled and finally become cold again. The high temperature in the river persists for 6.2 kilometers.

With all this, the volcano closest to the river is at a distance of about 700 kilometers.

Due to too hot water, animals that find themselves in the river die a terrible death - they boil alive.

Local tribes know a lot about this river. It is sacred to them. It is their water that they drink and cook on it, inhale the steam coming from it, wash the clothes in it and prepare medicines on its basis.
