7 most difficult countries to visit in the world

To get to some countries is not so easy, because they are located in very remote, inaccessible corners. It’s impossible to get into others because they just don’t like you. These 8 states combine both of them: the remote location and the efforts of the authorities to turn the attempt of a foreigner's visit into a real nightmare.

Nauru

The smallest republic in the world is located on the distant islands in the Pacific Ocean. To visit her, you will need to pay $ 100 for a visa. But the most difficult thing is that there are only 10 consulates of Nauru, where you can apply for this very visa, all over the world. Getting here is also not so easy, because passenger flights to Nauru are an extremely rare occurrence. In addition, upon arrival to the hotel you will have to hitchhike, as there is no public transport on the island.

Jan Mayen

Few people in the world boast a trip to this volcanic Norwegian island. This is one of the least inhabited places in the world, where the number of inhabitants reaches 3000 people. There is no harbor and just one runway, which takes eight flights a year and is intended for use exclusively by military personnel. You can get to the island only on a rented boat from Iceland or Norway, or book a trip with an eco-expedition. In order to stay on the island for more than 24 hours, permission must be obtained from the Salten County Police Commissioner.

Eritrea

Thanks to Mussolini, this former Italian colony is full of architectural gems. At the moment, in terms of journalistic freedom, or rather lack of freedom, the state has even bypassed North Korea. Accordingly, strict control is established over the issuance of visas by foreigners who have arrived in the country. Crossing the border to get to Eritrea is possible only from Djibouti, or by bus (taxi) from Sudan.

Russia

Despite the fact that today there are dozens of flights to Russia, the iron curtain seems still quite strong in the conditions of the Russian bureaucracy. A foreigner may need weeks or even months to get a visa. And having received it, he will be able to stay in the country only for 30 days. Those travelers who want to not just visit Russia, but wish to see Sakhalin, are waiting for just a huge number of adventures. To do this, they will need to cross seven time zones from Moscow by the Trans-Siberian Railway through the entire continent to Khabarovsk, transfer by ferry, then another train and again by ferry.

Butane

This country cannot be reached as an independent traveler. You must cooperate with a travel agent who organizes a route for you and issues a visa. In addition, Bhutan is one of the most expensive countries in the world to visit, so be prepared to spend at least $ 250 a day on taxes, guide services, room and board. You can fly to this remote Himalayan kingdom from Bangkok, Singapore, Kathmandu or Delhi.

Angola

The state scares away most tourists with incredible difficulties in obtaining a visa. It will take at least 8 weeks to complete and require dozens of supporting documents, considerable consular fees, a letter of intent from a person or organization, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate. And there are only 2 main ways to get there: take a ticket for one of the rare flights from Europe, South America or Africa, or fly to Namibia and get to Angola by bus.

South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands

These are super remote British territories located north of Antarctica. There is no runway, and a sea trip from the Falkland Islands takes three days.
